Is my new gecko ok?

Five days ago, my house gecko, Glinda, arrived in the mail. I bought her for
roach control, and she is not caged. She likes to hang out on top of my
computer modem or beside it, which is also under a lamp that I keep on all day.
I have a clean water dish for her. I am hoping she will catch some food, but
have not seen her do this. In desperation, I have caught a few roaches and
placed them nearby. There seem to be less of them, but I can't tell if
she is really eating. Short of buying crickets or mealworms, is there anything
else I can do, or other food she might like (babyfood? honey?)
I would prefer not to place her in a tank, as she seems
otherwise content and sometimes goes on a nearby wall. Even though my
home is filled with plants (some under grow lights), she loves my nice warm modem. This is my first gecko pet and I do love her. Help please.

What kind of gecko? The husbandry is different for different species. Never feed your gecko insects that you caught, they're probably full of parasites, etc., and could have been exposed to pesticides.

A few people on another forum had their crested geckos die after accidentally touching the wrong parts of their computers.
