So i went ice fishing, got 2 dozen minnows and had a bunch of these weird ones in with them. I used all but 10 and had one of the weird ones left, i left the minnows in my garage and they froze solid, so i thawed them and all were dead except for the weird one i found. What kind of fish is this? I would like to use them for ice fishing, them living longer in cold temps than the fatheads.

not sure the actual species, but without a doubt a stickleback. Not sure how they work for fishinig....the spines are a defense mechanism and predator fish may avoid them if they recognize them.

yeah its a brook stickleback. they were great for ice fishing, theyre found in northern canada so they withstand colder temps.
