How big of a cage should I put a ball python in. Lets say its about 1yr old. Is a 20 long and 10 wide enough? If not how long and wide should it be.

edit: I know a 55gallon tank is normally used for an adult but I have no clue how much FLOOR space that is. If anyone knows pelase share. I do believe the dimensions I said are way too small. And so that no one worries I do not currently own a ball python. Buying one and its cage saturday.

A ball python can live its entire life in a 20 gallon long though it is best to start a hatchling/juvenile in a 10 gallon and then to upgrade. IMO it's not necessary to go any bigger than that as balls prefer smaller spaces, but if you are looking for floor space, a standard 40 gallon will have more ground area than a standard 55 gallon.
