In the wild they huddle together, clinging in groups to keep up their temp at night. They also love sand, so I keep sand and chinchilla dust{minerals} in a bowl in the bottom of his cage.

The tail is very stiff, the feathers are like fur. They can go into torpor. A very odd but loving and sweet bird. He gets around amazingly well, for having short wings, a long tail and legs, and huge feet.:)

Oh thank you! He is my buddy. He has come such a long way. I consider him a rescue, he was living in deplorable conditions, wrong food, no toys. Look at him now! It took about a year of working through his fear, but now he is a sweet bird .:smitten::smitten:
