I had a conversation with Juan this morning about thermstats, he was telling me how he's having problems with his dimmer and its the 4th he's bought. I recommanded he purcuase the Alife thermostat which I use for all my racks. Anyways once I told him about Alife and thier nice pricing he looked them up on fuana. Interestingly enough seems they are rather bad, I've been well aware of the more expensive thermostats such as johnson control and helix but didn't seem any huge difference to justify the cost. Well this http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14219&highlight=alife+thermostat topic had several negative post and MGReptiles.com posted a link with reviews. After reading all the post and reviews I decided to purchase the new Herpstat Pro http://spyderrobotics.com/products/herpstatpro.html, seems like a great mulitpurpose thermostat which I look foward to receiving.

I had also read the posts about the Alife on fauna, but I already had them. I'm using them for all my tanks that need regulation (but not for my incubator) and haven't had any problems with any of them. I've discovered that without the thermostat, the highest the temp gets is about 106º which isn't good but also not fatal, so I just keep an eye on everything. I would feel differently if I were using a product that could get up in the 130-140 range.
