I went to check Papa... and the cage was empty! After my heart nearly leapt out of my chest, especially since the room-mate's kitten was sitting on my bed when I realized he was missing.

So I found the scamp... under my bookshelf looking amused by the whole thing.

I had modified the tank so that the auto-feeder thing would fit (too tall). Image below- a dramatization so no geckos would be tempted into a repeat performance.

I immediately set up the new tank that I bought him at the NH reptile show (Visionarium), but was being lazy about putting together. And look what I caught him doing in there. :main_rolleyes:

Bad, bad gecko! Though I have to be a bit impressed- not bad for a 16+ year old guy with maybe 1 toenail left. And, in retrospect, I guess the open top thing was not the best idea.

Glad you found him safe and sound. He seems pretty spry for an old guy. :)
If you want to reuse the tank with the hole in the top just hot-glue some wire mesh over it.

Yeah, I'm glad I found him quickly, too- I was just about faint with worry. The cats had been in my room for hours- I was sure he'd been eaten.
