Now that's a face only a mother could love! LOL I always think uros look like they got run over....that goes double for the black and white ones - looks like tire treads. I do like the ornate ones!

LOL Sorry, you're not the first person to accuse me of being nuts. :rolleyes5: :joker:

I just don't see it. Maybe I need to spend some one on one time with one. I think the gecko in your avatar is pretty freakin cute.

You do need to spend some time with one. they are extremely docile which just adds to the cuteness! lol

OK, someone will need to escort me at Tinley to make sure I try it out. Otherwise, I'll never ask anyone because I'll be too busy climbing the walls.

brandy, they are malis. the care is the same as adult. but cooler, and with water. instead of the 140 degree hotspot the adults have, i give them a 90-95 degree hotspot. with a cool side of about 75. i also give them a very shallow water dish on the cool side. where as the adults do not have any water at all.

and shanti, yeah, if you spent some time with them you would probably understand a lil more. they are very much individuals, personality wise. and yeah, that geckos is pretty cute, aint it. hahaha

I have heard they are pretty hard to breed in captivity. Is this true? I have thought about giving it a shot but the thought of how much it would cost for all those uvb bulbs and the right setups kinda drove me away from it. Do you breed a lot of them or do you just have a pair. Sorry for all the questions. I'm just curious. feel free to tell me to take a hike at any time lol.

thank you chris.

and brandy, its not tooooo hard to get them to breed. but it is kinda hard. as long as your patiant. the big problem with the whole idea of breeding uros is that they tend to be infirtal. there are breeders out there (deerfernframs, and a couple others) that have no problem with breeding them. but uros is all they really focas on. this year i got 16 eggs. only 4 ended up being firtal. i stated in my other post about them, that a friend had 5 males breed to one female. all one right after the other. and the female was very willing. she ended up laying 2 normal sized clutches, with not one single good egg. as far as the set ups go, i have 1.2 malis. i keep the hatchlings in 12qt containers(the same as my adult leos). using a the lid and some door screening i cut a hole in the top of the lid for a UV strip light. thats enough for the babies because of how close it is. only about 3" from the uros. my adults only have a 150watt power sun that is about 8" from there basking stone. where it gets up to 150degrees sometimes. they love it. this is also in a 260 gal tank, where they cant get 5' away from that light if they dont want to be that hot. the most pricy thing is the food. i keep them mainly on endive. but the adults will eat 3 full heads of it a week. but over all im quite proud to say that they are my own blood line. because all 3 of my adults are imports. and il answer any question you have brandi. its not a problem

Oh, so absolutely adorable! We have a VERY large custom enclosure empty right now and I'm saving my pennies for a uro to fill it up :D

Sorry to hijack the thread a bit, but that baby is super cute just to say it, but how big a tank and like what supplies would you need to house 1 adult uro?
